Bram has spent his life in the kennels of Rimeholt Keep, caring for twelve enormous hunting hounds and expecting little more from the world.

But when the man who raised him dies, Bram discovers that the hounds — and his place among them — are not what he believed.

What begins in the kennels will carry him far beyond Rimeholt, into a world of old powers, hidden histories and a past that refuses to stay buried.
